We were at Pacific Southern to celebrate a family birthday in August. We all enjoyed what we ordered. We started with sharing an order of fried okra. It was better than any that I've made over the years. I had the shrimp & grits. It was enough to feed 4. It was delicious & fortunately it warmed up well for my lunch for several days. The service was friendly and eager to please. They did seem to be understaffed. We'll be back for more southern home cooking.

Our fav soul food in the PNW. Catfish is excellent, Ruben fantastic, chicken and waffles a family favorite, the greens are just right and the corn bread delicious. The sweet tea devine, but we cut ours in half otherwise we'rebup all night.

We both had the shrimp n grits with cornbread. The shrimp n grits were amazing. Cooked just right. Seasonings and cheese were the perfect amount. The cornbread had great flavor, but was a touch on the dry side. We added some butter and honey and ate all of that too. The staff was friendly and never stopped moving throughout the dining room. We're looking forward to trying more of their dishes.

Reasonable southern experience for Washington. I was a little confused at the 4 piece chicken being a wing, a de-boned thigh, and two chicken strips. The strips were different breading then the thigh and wing, that was weird. But the collard greens were great, and the cornbread was fantastic too. I was surprised they offer tobasco and saracha instead of a Louisiana hot sauce. Still, confusion aside I will be back again.

Rating is only this high because the food is so good! We sat in the bar. Bartender took 10 minutes to acknowledge us and another 10 to take our drink order. The bar didn't seem that busy to take that long. Behind the bar looked disorganized and messy. Once we ordered (took another 15 to get that to happen) the food came relatively quickly. But let me tell you! Was it worth the wait. Everything was delicious. We will be back, but definitely will not sit in or at the bar.

This little spot is right around the corner from the Tacoma Mall right on Pine Street, you have to try it! Their greens have me in a chokehold, always fire! Highly recommend the Catfish plate, it comes with red beans & rice but you can substitute those for another side dish I usually do Mac & Cheese (baked to perfection). The corn bread is delicious, everything is freshly made. Chicken & waffles or the Buttermilk fried chicken are also a good choice! The only thing I didn't care for was the Jambalaya, the sauce just didn't do it for me but we all have different preferences. They are usually pretty busy but the service is always good & friendly. I need to make time to come try their breakfast menu. They also have a bar in the back to get your drank on too.
